Tuesday night saw a changing of the guard, so to speak, in the
Springdale School District. The school board selected Dr. Jared
Cleveland to succeed Dr. Jim Rollins as the next Superintendent of the
state's largest school district. Below is the statement from the
Springdale School District.
"Dr. Jared Cleveland has been named Superintendent of the
Springdale Public School District effective July 1, it was announced
following an executive session that concluded the June School Board
meeting. He replaces Dr. Jim Rollins, who resigned after 38 years to
become President of Northwest Technical Institute.
Dr. Cleveland, who has served as District Deputy Superintendent for
the past seven years, said, "When you dream about a moment and it
happens you know you are doing what you are meant to do. It is
humbling to work with dedicated, hard-working people who have a heart
to serve kids in a district that is second to none. It is a privilege to be in
Springdale where I have learned so much from Dr. Rollins during the
past seven years."
School Board President Michelle Cook said, "When Dr. Rollins brought
Dr. Cleveland here we expected him to prepare Dr. Cleveland for this
position. We are confident that with the guidance Dr. Rollins has given
him, Dr. Cleveland can lead our district, even through the crazy times
we are experiencing. I have never been more confident in a team of
leaders than the one we have in place."
Dr. Cleveland earned his bachelor's degree in history and political
science from Arkansas Tech and his master of science in Educational
Leadership, M.S.E., P-12 Educational Specialist, Ed.S. and P-20
Doctorate in Education, Ed.D. from Harding University. He began his
educational career as a teacher and coach at Leftwich High School in
the Magazine School District. He served in those positions eight years
before becoming principal of the school for a year. He then was named
Superintendent of the Magazine School District.
Two years later Dr. Cleveland became Superintendent of the Lavaca
School District. He served at Lavaca six years before being named
Arkansas Department of Education Assistant Commissioner of
Finance in 2012. He was only there a year before accepting his
position in Springdale.
Congratulations to our friend and the new leader of the Springdale
Schools, Dr. Jared Cleveland.
