Decision on Bike Lanes Looms Large,
Opinions Sharply Divided
It has been over a year since the pilot program was put in place through BikeNWA which placed bike lanes on Holcomb and Maple in Downtown Springdale. Parallel parking spots and poles were added on Holcomb narrowing the street dramatically. From Pleasant to Holcomb bike lanes were added and painted and bollards were added all along Maple to create the bike lanes.

There is a deep division among those who support the new bike infrastructure and those who believe it is unnecessary to place these type of transportation lanes on Springdale city streets. Now that the pilot program has expired a meeting is set for February 19th to review traffic counts and scenarios surrounding the future of the bike lanes and whether they remain in their current form, an altered form or are removed altogether.
