First Case Of Coronavirus Found In
Northwest Arkansas
Honestly, I really struggled with whether or not to even write a quick story about this. While we do not want to be a part of inciting any type of fear or anxiety in our community we do want to be a part of being informative. Until Wednesday we had simply heard about COVID-19 cases around the world, in other parts of the country and even in Central Arkansas. However, none had been reported in our metropolitan area of nearly 600,000 people.

On Wednesday morning we received word of the first case of the Coronavirus here in Northwest Arkansas. It was announced we had a confirmed case in Fayetteville. Currently we have 33 confirmed active cases in the state of Arkansas and 50 other individuals who are considered Persons Under Investigation due to a show of symptoms. If you are interested in keeping up with daily updates from the state click the link at the bottom of this article.

You have heard the term social distancing many times in the last few days. Social Distancing is the practice of maintaining a greater than usual distance from other people or avoiding direct contact with people or objects in public places during the outbreak of contagious disease in order to minimize exposure and reduce the transmission of infection. We can all practice this without being completely confined to our homes as many have to continue to work and keep our society running.

As more develops in our area we will do our best to not only aid the community with information but continue to try and be a positive part of seeing our citizens through this unprecedented time in American history.
