With the City Council runoff race on Tuesday the 2020 election season
has come to an end. It was a season marked by change as the council
will see 2 incumbents who had served 22 years a piece replaced by
new faces and a 3rd new member replacing Jim Reed, who was
serving out the term of former Alderman Colby Fulfer.
In Tuesday's runoff election Mark Fougerousse received 850 votes to
Kathy Jaycox's 226. Mrs. Jaycox had previously withdrawn from the
race, but dut to the timing remained on the ballot. The third candidate in
the race, Derek Van Voast, did not qualify for the runoff, even with Mrs.
Jaycox suspending her campaign. Fougerousse won the most votes
on November 3rd and then received 79% of the vote on Tuesday to
claim the seat in Ward 4.
Mrs. Jaycox has served for 22 years and will continue to serve until her
current term expires on December 31. At which time she will be
moving out of her ward. She has served the city of Springdale faithfully
and we wish her all the best.
