In May of 2014 I was sitting at a computer around midnight and thinking
of ways to help improve this city. I had previously had conversations
with a friend who told me, "You can find negative new 24 hours a day, 7
days a week". I hated the thought that so much negative news
dominated the news cycle and wanted to give people a place that
would make people proud to be from Springdale while keeping them
informed about what was going on around town. The idea of Live
Springdale was born.
That night I created the page and kicked a few name ideas around and
I settled on the current one. I decided to feature Springdale
businesses only and focus on just the positive things around town. For
the most part we never engage through the platform on topics that
could be classified as divisive or things that are negative in nature.
What we found has led to a great social experiment here in Springdale
and Northwest Arkansas.
We saw the Facebook Page grown from 100 to 500 to 5,000 to
10,000 and continue to climb. People were buying into the Live
Springdale concept. They could visit our Facebook page or have our
news run in their feed and know that it was something that was going to
be interesting or positive about the town they know and love. People
embraced the positive messaging and loved being the first person at
the watercooler at work who knew what new development was taking
place around the city.
Late in 2019 we began building the new LiveSpringdale.com. Through
this platform we introduced new ways to learn about and keep up with
things in our city. We also created pages to find destinations,
governmental operations and events throughout the city of Springdale.
The page has been fueled by partnerships with leading Springdale
companies such as Signature Bank and Sam's Club. It has been so
well received that in just the first 6 months months of the year we have
already seen over 100,000 unique users to the website. As we
continue to navigate the pandemic, the reopening of schools and the
second half of 2020 we hope to engage the city further and create new
and interesting ways to keep up with the news.
We now stand at over 40,000 Facebook members and nearly 45,000
across our social media platforms. Our monthly reach will average
between 250-500K people per month. All of that is not possible without
your patronage and you sharing your social influence with us here at
Live Springdale. I can't thank you enough for being a part of what we're
doing and continuing us to come into your lives on a daily basis. Keep
up the good work and we will try to do the same.
