"Little Emma" Moving Forward with
Groundbreaking Tuesday
Springdale residents you and old have seen Emma go through its ups
and downs. For many years it flourished and was the center of
commerce in town. Then, like many downtown areas, it began to die a
slow death as suburban sprawl continued to move people away from
the city center. In recent years we have seen a renewed interest and
rejuvenated investors coming Downtown to with exciting
announcements and plans.
On Tuesday the Emma Building Group, a group of investors with a
heavy focus on Springdale, will break ground on the 26 unit apartment
complex which will sit in the middle of the Jones Center, the
Community Clinic and the new Tyson Foods office building downtown.
It will feature various types of spaces from studio to one bedroom and
two bedroom apartments ranging from 500 to 850 square feet.
The site of the apartments is one of nostalgia for some Springdale
residents as the iconic Harvey and Bernice Jones built the homes to
aid Springdale teachers as they moved into our community during the
20th century. Their razing and development will now lend to the further
advancement, rebirth and impending growth that Emma has been
longing for for many years.
