Springdale to Upgrade Emergency
Response System
The City Council last night forwarded a recommendation to fund an upgrade to the Computer Automated Dispatch system that has been in place since 1994 that will vertically integrate all first responders to create a faster response time in cases of emergency. This system, purchased from Tyler Technologies, will allow police to respond quicker to calls as well as fire and EMS to be on scene quicker. The system will cost the city less than $1.5 million and is extremely valuable in a city of nearly 90,000.

Also forwarded was a new Locution Systems Inc. fire station alerting system for an amount not to exceed $210,510. This system will be used to alert the closest fire and EMS responders automatically during a 911 call and will drastically reduce the response time.Lastly, the council gave the ok to the IAPro secure data storage system to from SHI International for an amount not to exceed $38,000 plus tax to store and manage our citizens personal and confidential information.

These upgrades, among other in house training and equipment purchases, will continue to improve the safety, security and living conditions for the residents of Springdale. Investment in this equipment and these programs is necessary to ensure we all have the ability to enjoy the town we love with great peace of mind and probable prosperity.
